Blue Coat Academy (BCA) is Helping Paws’ immersive daytime training program where dogs in Host Homes spend two to three full days each week with our professional trainers. Each dog receives multiple one-on-one training sessions throughout the day, focusing on foundational and advanced skills needed to become an Assistance Dog. Between sessions, dogs enjoy quiet time, playtime, and structured activities that build confidence and focus.
Host Homes provide the love and stability of a home environment, while Blue Coat Academy ensures consistent, professional training. Dogs can be dropped off at Helping Paws or transported through our volunteer-powered “D-Uber” (Dog Uber) van service. Together, Host Homes and BCA form a vital part of the Helping Paws training pipeline—helping each dog grow, learn, and thrive on their journey to service.
