Sue and foster
dog Leo practice the command "Get the Door" at the
Helping Paws training center.
To increase the realism for her dog, they work while Sue is
seated in wheelchair.
Volunteer foster homes are the heart and soul
of Helping Paws. These volunteers take these puppies
into their homes and hearts for approximately two years.
These "foster parents" attend weekly training classes
conducted by Helping Paws. On their own, they practice
the lessons they learned in class, oversee the dog's health,
socialize the puppy/dog to everyday places and situations,
and help teach special service dog skills.
