Any adult with a physical disability (other than blindness or deafness) wanting increased independence through the use of a service dog is welcome to apply for a service dog.  The applicant must first send a letter of interest to receive an application.  Following completion of training, each service dog is carefully matched with a prospective applicant.  Staff and volunteers then conduct specialized training to meet individual needs of each recipient.  All Helping Paws graduate teams must then pass a public certification test.

Throughout the life of the service dog, Helping Paws staff and volunteers work with the graduate team to support their needs. Helping Paws also works to replace service dogs for those who have lost their dog due to age or illness.
